Over 40 years of music production excellence. From The Gap Band to Columbia Records, from Tampa's gospel scene to today's independent label operations.
Four decades of music industry experience
Po Man Records represents over 40 years of music production and industry experience, spanning some of the most influential moments in contemporary R&B, funk, and gospel music.
The journey began in the 1980s when Ronald opened for The Gap Band and Charlie Wilson at venues across the region, including Riverfront Park. This exposure to world-class artists and live performance excellence shaped his understanding of what authentic music could be. His management team at that time — Samuel Tucker, Carlton Burroughs (CPA for Warner Brothers), and Mr. LC Snead — guided his early career development and industry connections.
In 1995, Ronald's career expanded when he opened for Kino Watson, a Columbia Records artist. Through his management team's connections with Warner Brothers and Columbia Records in the 80s and 90s, Ronald developed a deep understanding of major-label operations and distribution networks. This industry knowledge became foundational to how Po Man Records operates today.
Deeply rooted in Tampa's gospel music scene, Po Man Records has been a cornerstone of Florida's spiritual music community for decades. From church services to regional gospel showcases, the label has nurtured talent, produced recordings, and preserved the authentic sound of Southern gospel music.
Today, Po Man Records operates as a modern independent label in Tampa, Florida, combining old-school expertise with new-school distribution. The label offers full-service production, artist development, studio time, and digital distribution — all backed by four decades of hands-on industry experience.
